Fertility Counselling

Infertility is a condition that affects 1 in 6 couples in South Africa. A journey I know too well with my own experience and struggles. It is such a unique experience that I know it can't fall under any category of conditions mentioned because it encompasses many; depression, anxiety, identity, relationship difficulties, stress, grief, marital problems to tag on a few.

The condition does not have a simple solution where you have a procedure and the outcome is a guaranteed recovery and conception. The journey is tumultuous, emotional and draining for the individuals/couples undertaking any type of fertility treatment. Couples/individuals have to sieve through an array of feelings of guilt and helplessness as to why their bodies are not working the way they should.

They are left feeling inadequate and often question part of their identity as feminine or masculine, husband or wife, or as a father and mother.

Fertility Counselling can help individuals/couples gain perspective over their situation and plan and make decisions about the future. In this space you can express your fears, sadness and loss while keeping alive the hope for the future. It fosters open communication and support for yourself and your partner as you navigate what seems like a never ending story.
